Orange is a stimulating, vibrant and flamboyant color. Although it is made of red and yellow, it carries less aggressiveness and fierceness than red due to its combination with the calming yellow color.

Psychology of the Color Orange

Orange promotes a sense of general well-being and emotional energy to be shared such as compassion, passion and warmth. In addition, it helps a person recover from disappointments, a wounded heart or a blow to pride. Studies show that the color orange has the ability to create physical effects, such as increased hunger, increased sense of activity, increased socialization, increased aspiration, stimulated mental activity, increased oxygen supply to the brain, increased satisfaction and increased security; on the other hand it also helps in decision making and improves happiness, confidence and understanding.

It is a color that always helps to see the bright side of things, even if the reality is often not too bright. For example, it can provide encouragement and motivation in difficult financial periods, allowing you to keep going until you find solutions and improvements. The color also inspires to be active, increasing the sense of competence and the courage to take some risks.

It will also make us feel stronger from a physical point of view. People who are inspired by this color will feel the need to be in constant motion. Because it is an extroverted color, it also makes people forget about inhibitions and show off at least a little. Too much orange causes self-centered and egotistical qualities, including pride, arrogance and lack of care for others, while too little orange causes loss of motivation, lower self-esteem and loneliness.

The Color Orange in Business

When using orange in business, you must understand the traits, qualities and mood of the color. For starters, it is a warm, vibrant and flamboyant color. It is energy combined with fun, the color of the risk taker, the extrovert and the uninhibited. Physiologically, orange vitalizes, inspires and creates enthusiasm.

It is stimulating to appetite and social conversation and therefore works well in restaurants and other eating establishments. This can be achieved by using some form of the color in the décor, such as in furnishings or lighting. It does not need to be bright orange: salmon, coral, terracotta and other versions will also work.

A market restaurant will look more elegant with orange versions. Combine with eggplant, purple or blue for a unique, contemporary and elegant look. Psychologically, in commercial applications, orange gives the impression of affordability, that depends on the shade chosen and how it is paired with other colors. Too much of it can suggest dejection. Use your own judgment about how it affects you: if it looks cheap to you, it will do the same for others.
