¿ HOW TO CLEAN PORCELAIN FLOOR ?

A Very Simple Way to Clean Porcelain Floors

Porcelain tile floors are a quality material that adds value to your property. It is versatile, durable and available in beautiful designs. Therefore, regular cleaning is a necessity to increase its longevity. One of the greatest advantages of porcelain is that it is one of the easiest flooring materials to clean.

To keep it tidy, your tile floor can be easily swept or vacuumed twice a week, and then cleaned with a damp sponge and a solution of 1/4 cup white vinegar to 2 gallons of water.

Although porcelain tile is by definition impervious (it has an absorption rate of .5% or less), it is still possible for your surface to stain, especially if you don’t have wax polish applied. Sweep or vacuum the dirt off the floor. Saturate the floor with cleaning solutions and hot water, shake it and leave it on the floor for 5 to 10 minutes. Do not allow cleaning solutions to dry. Also, for this procedure, do it in small areas at a time.

For more difficult stains, rub the cleaning solution with a floor machine equipped with a rigid nylon bristle pad or brush. For residential applications and small areas, use a cleaning brush. Clean the dirty cleaning solution and rinse the porcelain surface with clean, clear water with a mop or water vacuum cleaner.

On the other hand, if the porcelain is polished or glazed, sweep or vacuum the dirt and dust off the floor, and use a dry, untreated mop instead of a broom.

Clean the floor with a mild cleaning solution. The detergent concentration should be 50% less than the amount used on an unpolished porcelain floor.
Rinse the porcelain floor thoroughly with clean, clear water. Carefully dry to increase gloss and avoid water stains.
A textured porcelain tile surface requires some additional cleaning procedures. Only a standard wet scrub will not effectively clean such a surface.

Also, sweep or vacuum dust and dirt from the floor. To sweep, use a soft bristle broom and sweep in two directions. First follow the direction of the tile and then sweep diagonally to ensure complete cleanliness of all foreign material that may reside in the texture.

Saturate the surface with a neutral cleaning solution in hot water and stir. Allow the cleaning solution to remain on the floor for five to ten minutes. Scrub the floor with a brush, again using a two-way method. Rinse the porcelain floor with clean, clear water to remove the cleaning solution.

For locations with heavy traffic, it is recommended that the floor be scrubbed once a day and mopped at regular intervals.

Among other recommendations, do not clean floors with ammonia or cleaners containing bleach and/or acid for cleaning. Do not use oil-based detergents, wax cleaners or sealers. Do not use agents containing dyes or colors in unglazed porcelain. Use rugs at outdoor entrances to prevent sand from being tracked on the tile floor. Do not use steel wool pads, as loose steel particles can cause rust stains.
