FREE MUSIC COURSE

In a Free Music Course you will study music by reading, listening, performing and composing. You will create music in all its aspects: acoustic, electronic, individual and community.

You will also learn through analysis, the relationships within a piece of music, and between that piece and its genre and context.

Throughout the course, you will be exposed to music of all kinds and in all contexts: Western classical music, popular music, music from other cultures, community music, seeing these musics in terms of their history (and how that history has formed over time), social context and psychology.

What are the Music Courses ?

A Music Course is a training that allows you to gain an understanding of the basic components of music theory and notation. With a Music Course, it will be your introduction to music theory, introducing you to musical staves, keys, rhythmic and pitch values, rhythmic meter and time signatures.

The course begins with a brief introduction to the fundamentals of music notation, personnel, clefs and note names. It then moves on to consider rhythm and pitch notation. In addition, the basic form of the chord (the triad) is included, along with a list of the most commonly used performance instructions you will find in the music (scores).

Students graduate as mature and well-rounded musicians with an informed and lively sense of contemporary study and practice of the subject, and the ways in which music contributes to society at large.
