FREE GENDER EQUALITY COURSE

UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) defines Gender Equality as: “the equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities of women and men, girls and boys. Equality does not mean that women and men are the same, but that rights, responsibilities and opportunities do not depend on the sex they were born with.

Gender equality is achieved when women and men enjoy equal rights and opportunities in all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making. Gender equality also occurs when the different behaviors, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and promoted.

Currently, different international governmental and social institutions for the defense of human rights have set concepts, guidelines and laws that guarantee equal opportunities and conditions for women and men in different roles in society.

Among these roles in society, education, income, time, work and health, among others, stand out, since these are key points to show the differences in situations between men and women. A Gender Equality Course is designed to encourage an exploration of common behaviors and attitudes towards gender differences. Many of these courses are given free of charge.

These courses will present facts and figures about the situation of women and men in our current society and policies to address gender concerns. The principle of equality between women and men in all their activities represents a general objective for many institutions and society in general.
