FREE ETHNOLOGY COURSE

Ethnology, or so-called socio-cultural anthropology, began as a systematic attempt to acquire and compare information about the cultures of peoples and nations around the world. It is a specific approach within anthropology that is dedicated to intercultural comparative analyses.

Ethnology uses data taken from ethnographic research and applies it to a single intercultural issue. Anthropologists who focus on one culture are often called ethnographers, while those who focus on several cultures are often called ethnologists.

The ethnographic approach can be used to identify and attempt to explain intercultural variation in cultural elements such as marriage, religion, subsistence practices, political organization and parenting, to name a few. Several universities and institutions currently offer courses in ethnology as part of their curricula. Many of these courses are offered free of charge.

The Free Ethnology Course also addresses the role of ethnology within the context of global anthropologies in a post-colonial world. This course is for anyone interested in anthropology, the cultural problems of society or the functioning of society and cultural practices.
