Choose The Right Sandpaper for your Delta sander

Choose the right sandpaper grain size. Before you start sanding, you should choose the sandpaper grit size that best suits the job in hand. To do this, study the types and textures of sandpaper in detail,

Coarse sandpaper will leave scratches on your work piece. Starting with too coarse a grit size will mean extra work later to remove scratches caused by coarse sand. On the other hand, starting with a sand that is too fine probably means that more time is needed to sand the surface.

Sanding with the Delta or Triangular Sander

  • Sanding serves to remove imperfections in walls, ceilings, furniture, floors, etc. It is also used to roughen surfaces that are too shiny for paint or filler compound to adhere easily.
  • Steel wool and sandpaper are the most commonly used abrasive materials for this purpose.
  • The sandpapers to be used can be classified according to the type of grain in: silicon coating, aluminium oxide and zirconium cardboard.
  • Also according to the number of the grain and the support, in case of paper, cotton or polyester and vulcanized. They are also characterized by the binder and coating.

Place the Delta Sanding Paper

Place the sandpaper or pre-cut sanding sheet at the base of the sander. Fold the edges of the sandpaper over each end of the base to make sure it fits.

Make sure the sandpaper fits the sander.

Attach the Delta Sanding Paper

Hold the sandpaper to keep it in place. The sandpaper can be held in place using the clamps on each end of the sander. Simply loosen the clamps, insert the edges of the sandpaper under the brackets, then tighten the clamps until the sandpaper is secure.

Grip Handle

Hold the handle, making sure your hand is in a comfortable position.

Sanding

  • Push the sander back and forth to sand the material. Sand your material by pushing the sander back and forth in one continuous motion.
  • Be sure to sand along the grain on wood surfaces.
  • If you are sanding a wood surface, it is important to sand with the grain, moving the sander in the direction that the wood fibers are pointing. Any scratches that occur will be masked by the woodgrain, leaving a clean finish.
  • Sanding against the grain, on the other hand, will lift and tear the fibers, leaving messy scratches in the wood that will defeat the purpose of the sanding.
  • If your surface area has a more complex design, for example, with protruding parts, you can hand-sand them with a piece of sandpaper.
  • Keep sanding until all unwanted material is gone.
  • Once you have completed your initial sanding, you may want to replace the original sandpaper with a finer one and repeat the steps again to give it a final touch. Ideally, you should progress from macro to micro grits, changing one grade at a time.

A Very Special Way to Clean the Delta Sander or Triangular Corner Sander

To remove dirt from our sander, we can select the maximum speed of the sander and bring a gum shoe we no longer use close to the sander. Don’t worry, it’s a trick that works really well.

Also, the rubber sole should cover the entire surface of the sandpaper and sand it for about a minute.

Making sure that the dirt has been removed and that there are no traces left. We can sand for a few extra seconds to get rid of all the dirt completely.
