Types or Varieties of Green

Hooker’s green

This is a dark green color created by combining Prussian blue and Gamboge. Hooker’s green takes its name from the botanical artist William Hooker (1779-1832) who created a special pigment for the leaves and is recognized by this name today.

Jungle Green

In 1990, the well-known brand Crayola named this specific shade of color “jungle green”. The first recorded use of jungle green as a color name was in 1926.

Laurel Green

This is a medium-light shade of greenish-gray very similar to asparagus, but unlike asparagus this one is a bit lighter. The first recorded use of Laurel Green as a color name in the English language was in 1705.
