FREE AGROECOLOGY COURSE

Is it true that Agroecology is the solution to the challenges facing agriculture today: feeding a growing population while conserving natural resources in a world where uncertainties about climate change, biodiversity, energy, etc. continue to intensify?

Is agro-ecology just a fad, or a significant scientific, technical and political revolution ?

These questions can be answered by taking a course in agroecology. These courses will help you discover what Agroecology is, through the various approaches that have emerged over the years and in various regions of the world, and through the ways in which it can be studied and implemented in the fields as a practical agriculture.

At present, there are different institutions that offer training in this area through Free Courses in Agroecology, both in the classroom and online. So, if it is a topic of your interest, don’t hesitate and make the decision to lead your life to the world of Agroecology. Agroecology is considered with different focus and weight in different parts of the world as a social and political movement, as science and as practice.

What are the Agroecology Courses ?

The Agroecology course is a program of theoretical and practical training in Agroecology and how it can be applied to the fields. The curriculum has been designed at the interface of agronomy, ecology and social sciences. The Agroecology course explains agriculture by its foundation: the ecological principles and interactions that allow us to produce food.

The dynamics of the course is one of participatory learning and depends largely on the social and geographical diversity of the participants. The course is designed around tools and opportunities to share information among a very diverse community of participants. In this course you will study the scientific foundations of Agroecology through a multidisciplinary approach that includes agronomy, ecology, anthropology, soil science, sociology, zootechnics and more.

By the end of this course, students will understand how the organisms that make up an agroecosystem interact with each other and with their environment; how human interventions affect these interactions and vice versa; what sustainable agriculture means; and how this sustainability can be measured.

Students who complete the Agroecology Course will be able to:

  • Determine and evaluate resource and energy inputs and outputs in agricultural systems and their importance to nutrient cycling, energy flows, and population dynamics.
  • Plan interventions in these processes to produce food and other agricultural products in a sustainable manner.
  • Relate universal agro-ecological concepts to their own environment.
  • Measure the sustainability of agro-ecosystems at a basic level.
  • Consider the importance of real and historical socio-economic and political developments for global and local food systems.
  • Interact collaboratively with peers in discussions and tasks, building arguments collectively.
