ECCLESIASTES 3: 11

Ecclesiastes 3: 11. As the Bible Says:

“He has done all the right things at the right time. He has also put eternity in his heart, however, so that man will not discover the work that God has done from the beginning to the end.

Beautiful in its time: God’s works are well done; there is order, harmony and beauty in all of them. Even the caterpillar is a finished beauty in all the changes through which it passes, when its structure is properly examined, and the ends are kept in view in which each change will be emitted.

None of this can be said about the works of man. The most finished works of art are disorderly works, compared to the meanest operation of nature. He has put the world in his heart – העולם haolam, that hidden time – the period beyond the present, – Eternity.

The proper translation of this clause is as follows: “Also that eternity he has placed in his heart, without which man could not discover the work that God has done from the beginning to the end”. God has deeply rooted the idea of eternity in every human heart; and every man considered sees that all operations of God refer to that infinite duration.

And it is only in eternity that man will be able to discover what God has designed through the various works he has formed. We must link this directly to the truth of verse 1: “There is a time for every purpose. The key word, of course, is “time. In life’s challenges to our faith, in which God is involved with us.

Regarding Verse 11

In verse 11, we learn that both time and what is being resolved are “beautiful. The event can be challenging, but God, who is involved in the life of the Christian and in this challenge, calls it “beautiful.” With hopeful knowledge, what should be our attitude?

The root of the Hebrew word translated beautiful literally means “bright”. The Hebrew word can be translated as “righteous,” “beautiful,” “lovely,” “proper,” “appropriate,” and “timely,” depending on the context. In Job 42:15, the same Hebrew word is translated “beautiful” when describing the daughters of Job. It indicates something good and admirable, a blessing.

What an encouraging truth! God’s timing, His supervision of events, and what He wants them to accomplish is a good thing! They are not simply good in general, but also adequate, right, proper and timely.

Was the dispersion of Israel and Judah beautiful in your time? If we read Lamentations without considering the whole purpose of God, the situation really seems very ugly. However, in the long run, the answer is no doubt, “Yes, it was beautiful and good! It was appropriate for the occasion.

What about the scattering of the church? Was it beautiful? The same is true. Going through this may have been stressful, requiring painful adjustments as we persevere to the end, but in the long run, it will surely be wonderfully good.

Is the correction good? Do we really want to keep doing things wrong? If God had not done what he did when and how he did it, how many serious failures of spiritual character and attitude would have gone uncorrected? How disastrous would they have been for the salvation of many?

How many nice people have we associated with in the past but who seemingly have been swept overboard and seem lost? The reality may be that they were “good wrongs.

In fact, they may have been good people with many social graces, but completely unconverted. Perhaps they no longer have fellowship with us because God delayed their true calling by saving them from the Lake of Fire.

Peter clearly states that God “is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance” (II Peter 3: 9). There used to be a television program called Father Knows Best. Yes, he does! And because of the way God has acted, many more will enter his kingdom in his image than if he had not intervened. it is even possible to consider that we have all been lost, except for his abrupt intervention!

It is critical for us to always keep in mind that God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10). His overview captures the entire span of events; He sees the whole picture. We, however, live in a time-limited material universe, and all we have is a mere point of view (1 Corinthians 13:12). For the most part, we are restricted to understanding things from our limited perspective.

That is why faith is required of us and why Solomon states in verse 11 that we cannot “discover the work that God does from beginning to end. So how can we face life’s challenges with the right spirit? If we believe that the dispersion of the church has been difficult to accept in a good attitude, we must be patient because prophecy reveals that things will get worse over time.

Personally I am becoming more and more aware that time is moving for me. My mother, who lived to be almost 93, once told me, “Growing old is not for sissies.

She told me in an unconverted way that regardless of age, the trials of life never really end. As one gets older, they simply transform into another form.

To help us in our current spiritual trials, as well as in the intensified times ahead, we must come to know God through a personal relationship and trust that He will work things out. We must use our faith, knowing that we do not see the whole picture.
