DEGREE IN NATIONAL AND PUBLIC SECURITY

A bachelor’s degree in public safety will prepare students for a demanding career in public safety administration. This discipline is necessary because threats are unpredictable and attacks can circumvent standard security protocols. We need skilled people to dedicate their professional lives to ensuring public safety.

Public safety graduates ensure that national security, police, and emergency response teams are ready 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The implementation of this degree is the result of the interest shown by the Senior Security Technicians who graduated from Police Institutes to pursue a university career related and linked to the search for solutions and the improvement of the quality of life of people and the community.

This degree proposes the elaboration and development of programs and future implementation of Citizen Security policies that have as an end the common good. Recently, the Universities have considered it appropriate and convenient to extend the course of study to those Higher Security Technicians who wish to obtain a degree in Public Security.

For this reason, a system of articulation has been put in place that allows students to complete their degree by taking and passing the subjects that are not included in the respective degree under the distance or semi-presential modality. The objective of the degree is to train professionals capable of performing functions in the field of public and private security, with the ability to organize and direct actions.

Most degree programs consist of 120 credits. Full-time students can obtain their public security degree in approximately four years. However, part-time students may need more time to fulfill all their graduation requirements.

What Does a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Do ?

Public safety graduates are able to generate planning and execution policies aimed at preventing harmful actions, criminal or otherwise, that ensure the safety of citizens’ lives, property, or production.

As well as developing skills for the dynamic integration of investigative, preventive and dissuasive actions carried out in the public or private spheres; police, private security and civil defence, thus interweaving in a coordinated and integral manner.
